What animals can you see when exploring NSW, Australia?

Kangaroos
They can move for around 48km/hr due to their big feet. The red kangaroos here are around 2 meters tall. Their weight would be more than 85kg. The grey Kangaroos are smaller compared to the red ones. In fact, the red Kangaroos are very big. The grey Kangaroos can weigh around 65kgs maximum. If you love watching Kangaroos, visit Kosciuszko National Park. You can even spot them in woodlands and forests.
Kangaroos feed on grass most of the time. However, they also eat shrubs, buds, and leaves. A baby kangaroo will always be in the mother’s pouch until it develops completely. By the time they reach 6 months, they will be developed completely.

Platypus
It isn’t easy to find this kind of animal outside Australia. This animal looks very different and is mostly found in the rivers. This mammal does not give birth to the baby Platypus directly but lays eggs. This mammal would be around 30cm to 60cm long and looks very small. Its skin looks very thick. It eats insects and other water creatures. This animal is quite shy and will be active during the nighttime.

Koalas
These animals have a grey furry body, round ears, and black noses. Many people often call them koala bears, which is completely wrong. They do not have any connection with bears. Male Koalas look bigger compared to female Koalas. They are more found in the Eucalyptus forests. The majority of animals do not consume the Eucalyptus leaves due to their high toxin content, which can cause digestive issues.
But Koalas consume these leaves happily. The special bacteria present in their gut break down the toxins in the eucalyptus leaves, which is why they are comfortable eating these leaves. They spend at the top of the trees, on branches where they eat and sleep or relax. They cannot move from one tree to the other quickly.

Echidnas
This is the other mammal that lays eggs and is found more in New Guinea and Australia. They have spines all over their body, which look like hair spikes. They stay in their burrows most of the time. Just like Platypus, Echidnas will be active during the night. It is the moth larvae and beetles they feed on commonly. They hunt these insects with their very long tongue. The interesting part is that they don’t have any teeth, and they break the food with their tongue.
